Intro
Are you planning to apply multiple lawn care products but unsure about the order or the waiting time between applications? In this guide, we explore the best practices for applying different lawn care products effectively.
Always Follow Application Instructions
When using multiple products, it’s essential to follow the label instructions carefully. Some products require watering in, while others should be applied to a dry lawn. Certain treatments should be applied when no rain is expected for a few hours to allow proper absorption. Always check the product label for specific application guidelines.
Should You Weed or Feed First?
The order of applying weed killers and fertilisers depends on your lawn’s condition:
If your lawn and weeds are already growing strongly, apply herbicide first to eliminate weeds. Once they’re gone, fertilise to promote healthy grass growth.
If growth is slow, fertilise first to stimulate both grass and weed growth. A week later, apply a herbicide to target the weeds more effectively.
Can Herbicides Be Applied with Other Products?
Mixing herbicides with other lawn care products in the same sprayer is not recommended, as some chemicals may interact and reduce effectiveness.
If you need to apply multiple treatments, space them a few hours apart. This allows the herbicide to dry and absorb into the weeds before applying the next product. Applying another product too soon may wash away the herbicide before it takes effect. Always follow application specifications to ensure effectiveness.
Can Soil Health Products Be Applied Together?
Yes, soil health products such as Lawn Soaker and Lawn Kelper can usually be applied simultaneously. Always check the product labels for specific guidance.
Can Granular Products Be Applied Together?
Granular lawn care products can generally be applied at the same time. However, it’s best to confirm that the irrigation requirements for each product align.
For even coverage, apply each product separately and then water them in thoroughly.
Important Note: Avoid applying granular fertiliser alongside Oxafert or Oxafert Plus, as both contain fertiliser components. Using them together can lead to over-fertilisation. If you plan to use both, wait at least three weeks between applications.
